At Smiles Made Perfect Dental Partners, we do our best to accommodate patients experiencing dental emergencies across our three locations in Branson, Nixa, and Springfield, with same-day appointments available when scheduling allows. We try to always do everything we can to get you seen quickly when something urgent comes up rather than leaving you in pain or without answers. Our team is equipped to handle a wide range of dental emergencies, from severe toothaches and broken teeth to knocked-out teeth and lost restorations, and we'll move efficiently to assess the situation, relieve your discomfort, and put a plan in place to fully address the problem. Our regular office hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm, and while we do not have a formal after-hours answering service, after-hours and weekend appointments are occasionally available in urgent situations. Call us right away

If you're experiencing a dental emergency, the most important first step is to call our office as soon as possible. Our team will ask about your symptoms, assess the urgency of your situation, and get you scheduled at the earliest available appointment. If your emergency occurs outside of our regular office hours, Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm, call us anyway and we will do our best to assist you or direct you to the appropriate next step.

Your emergency exam and immediate care

When you arrive, your provider will conduct a focused exam to quickly assess what's happening and take any necessary X-rays, including a panoramic X-ray for a complete view when needed. The immediate priority is to relieve your pain and address any acute concerns, whether that means treating an infection, stabilizing a broken tooth, or re-cementing a lost restoration. Sedation options including laughing gas and oral conscious sedation are available if you're feeling anxious or if the treatment requires additional comfort support.

A plan for complete care

Once the immediate emergency has been addressed, your provider will walk you through what caused the problem and what the best path forward looks like for your long-term oral health. Some emergency situations can be fully resolved in a single visit, while others may require follow-up appointments for comprehensive treatment such as a crown, root canal, or extraction. Your provider will make sure you leave with a clear plan, a follow-up appointment if needed, and the information you need to manage your recovery at home.

What should I do if a tooth gets knocked out?

Time is critical when a tooth is knocked out. If possible, pick the tooth up by the crown, which is the visible part, and avoid touching the root. Gently rinse it with water if it's dirty, but do not scrub it or remove any attached tissue. If you can, try to place the tooth back in the socket and hold it there gently, or store it in a container of milk or between your cheek and gum to keep it moist. Call our office immediately and get to us as quickly as possible. The chances of successfully re-implanting a knocked-out tooth are highest when treatment happens within an hour of the injury.

A dental emergency is generally any situation involving significant pain, trauma, or damage that cannot wait for a routine appointment. Common dental emergencies include severe toothaches, cracked or broken teeth, knocked-out teeth, abscesses or signs of infection such as swelling or fever, lost crowns or fillings that are causing pain or sensitivity, and soft tissue injuries to the gums, lips, or tongue. If you're unsure whether your situation qualifies as an emergency, call our office and describe your symptoms.
